The way that xiaomi publicizes the Xiaomi ngươi Pro HD / ngươi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD may sound confusing và make you think that they hold inside 2 balanced armatures + 1 dynamic driver, but the real fact is that the configuration is a little less standard; inside they have 2 dynamic drivers & 1 balanced armature.

The Xiaomi ngươi Pro HD / mày In-Ear Headphones Pro HD

(you can kiểm tra side khổng lồ side photos of both models at the very end of the page in this review). Other improvements include the microphone & button controller that instead of being of plastic like the previous generation, they are entirely made of metal. The buttons of the controller are no longer đen plastic long “bars”, instead they are rounded metallic buttons. Tactile feel is better and makes the overall hàng hóa feel as a higher class mix of iems.

portable amplifier (with bass boost turned on & set lớn high gain). The limiting component here was the 2nd dynamic driver, we could feel that the main dynamic driver could take more amplification nguồn but the 2nd DD was crackling & ready lớn blow up when getting to 50% and above. This has happened to lớn us in the past with other earphones that also had a 2 dynamic driver configuration (the Vots DQ100)

the Xiaomi ngươi Pro HD / mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD exhibited a slight basshead rumble… if the 2nd dynamic driver wasn’t holding them back the Xiaomi ngươi Pro HD / mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD could outperform many earphones

As a result with the just explained amplification & equalization configuration the Xiaomi mi Pro HD / ngươi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD exhibited a slight basshead rumble (marginally) sitting way behind the Xiaomi mày Quantie Pro Hybrid, KZ ZST, KZ ZS2, Senfer 4in1, Elecom EHP-CA3580, Vots QT100, Plextone X41M, Doboly Q18 & still below the KZ ATE. We are almost sure that if the 2nd dynamic driver wasn’t holding them back the Xiaomi mi Pro HD / mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD could outperform many earphones but there is no way lớn prove it unless you are willing to blow up the 2nd DD.

responds well to custom equalization in general. When equalizing bass gets clearly punchier and deeper; mids clear up the slight recession and still bởi not become harsh nor boxy. When equalizing highs, despite adding brightness they also emphasize much more the sibilance presence that they were already exhibiting and not much more detail is gained.

Xiaomi is known primarily for making premium smartphones. But they found themselves on the radar of audio lovers everywhere with the xiaomi Piston 2.0 in-ears. The Piston 2.0’s were widely regarded as one of the best pairs of earbuds you can get for under $50. They even made it onto our best list và stayed there for quite some time. I personally liked them so much that I bought a pair & made them my daily drivers. Even when testing other headphones, I always had them in my back pocket.

Fast forward a little, & the xiaomi mi Piston III’s came out with a brand new design và slightly different sound. Though it was in some ways a better sound, it wasn’t enough for me lớn part ways with my Piston 2.0’s. Now the company is pushing the fourth generation which they’ve dubbed the mày In-Ear Headphones Pro. They have a similar design lớn the Piston III’s, but a new sound. Are these the new best earbuds on the block?

What’s inside

*

One of the cooler things about the Piston 2.0 in-ears was the box it came in. When you opened it, you got a faint smell of chocolate. Unfortunately, mi ditched that clever packaging and instead went with a simple cardboard box. Opening it up you’ll get the headphones, a quick start guide, and three extra ear tips.

Build và Design

*

Aesthetically these look very similar lớn the previous generation. Xiaomi mi kept the angled kiến thiết that shoots sound into your ear, but it’s slightly different if you put them right next khổng lồ each other. The cable is made with “break-resistant” kevlar fibers that are supposed to increase durability. Though we didn’t vì any bức xúc tests, the headphones seemed khổng lồ survive being tossed around và stuffed in pockets without a problem. One thing I did notice was that it still gets tangled a little too easily for something that’s supposed to lớn be tangle resistant.

*

The control module is about three inches down from the right earbud and made of metal. This gives it a nice feel và surprisingly doesn’t weigh the earbuds down. They’re still as light as ever. That same metal is also found on the headphone jack in whichever color you choose khổng lồ buy. It definitely helps the wires avoid fraying over time. I purchased the gold & white version but they also come in a silver/black. Though these vày come with 3 extra pairs of ear tips, I found that none of them fit my ears comfortably enough và continuously fell out. I eventually swapped them out for comply memory foam tips & the entire experience immediately became much more enjoyable.

Connection

*

The mày In-ears terminate in a 3.5mm jack, so you can plug into any of your devices. Still, you might need a dongle or two if you’re getting a new phone anytime soon. That said, there are a few things to be aware of regarding playback controls. Xiaomi manufacturers app android phones, so the 3-button mic và remote is completely compatible with Android. The middle button will pause/play music, skip between tracks, and access Google Now if you hold it down, while the top and bottom buttons control volume.

*

Using it with an android phone it worked just as advertised, but I had issues with i
OS. The volume buttons don’t work because of Apple’s hardware choices, but I also had an issue with pausing/playing music. While music is playing tapping it once will pause the music. Cool. But clicking the middle button again doesn’t resume playback, instead it accesses Siri for some reason.

Although mi does mention the volume issues with i
OS, they don’t mention this. So if you’re an i
OS user you might as well just ignore the buttons. At least the microphone works well. Calls made on both Android và i
OS came through loud and clear with no complaints from people on the other side, though with i
OS I also was not able to lớn answer the call by pressing the middle button.

Sound Quality

The mày In-ear Headphones Pro have two sets of drivers in each earbud khổng lồ get the most out of the sound. Inside you’ll find a hybrid dynamic driver that handles the mids and low end. But you’ll also find balanced armature drivers that handles the highs. Together, the result is great.

The low kết thúc in these is definitely reminiscent of the older xiaomi Piston 2.0’s that I fell in love with. It’s deep & solid, with just the right amount of pump. The consistent bass kicks in “Youth Group” by Slow Magic sound great and nothing in the low over ever gets out of control.

Mids had a nice full sound to lớn them but there was still some occasional muddiness depending on what you were listening to. In particular I found this to lớn be an issue in “Solo” by Frank Ocean where the organ seems khổng lồ get in the way of some parts of the vocals.

These in-ears handled the high end nicely as well with hi-hats và cymbals becoming piercing only when the volume is maxed out. Luckily, these get plenty loud. While listening at normal volume I didn’t have any issues & everything had a good amount of detail.

Conclusion

Xiaomi hasn’t disappointed. These are the best sounding in-ears mi has built today without a doubt, but they do have their issues. If you’re using game android you won’t have an issue with the control module, but i
OS users should be ready for a few hiccups. On vị trí cao nhất of that the silicone ear tips that come with the headphones were pretty bad and I couldn’t get a good fit with any of them. If you’re looking to lớn pick these up I definitely would recommend getting another pair of ear tips from somewhere else.

Still, at only $26 the pros easily outweigh the cons. Solid build unique and great sound are what you look for in a pair of in-ears and these deliver. For under $50 these are without a doubt one of the best in-ears you can get. You can even make the case for the sub-$100 range. One thing is for sure though, these new headphones are for sure going khổng lồ replace the older Piston 2.0’s in my pocket.
